Policy Submissions
  • LGBTIQA+ Inclusion Strategy Youth Report 2025

YPN has proudly contributed to the development of Western Australia’s first whole-of-government LGBTIQA+ Inclusion Strategy, by supporting and training youth organisations to lead their own consultations, running community engagement sessions in collaboration with Freedom Centre, hosting stalls across four university o-week days and drawing on insights from WA-specific data in Minus18’s National Queer Youth Now report (June 2025).

  • Submission to the Review of the Guardianship and Administration Act 1990 (WA) 2025

This submission is made jointly by Transfolk WA, Youth Pride Network, Living Proud WA, and WAAC. It highlights the critical need for law reform to ensure the rights, safety, and dignity of trans and gender diverse (TGD) young people are meaningfully protected within guardianship and administration frameworks.

  • The Anti-Bullying Rapid Review Submission 2025

This submission presents key themes and recommendations to assist the Department of Education in enhancing its anti-bullying frameworks. We call for a consistent, national approach that embeds inclusivity, cultural safety, youth leadership, and mandatory training at all levels of the education system. Addressing bullying effectively requires more than policy; it demands a cultural shift. That shift must be co-designed and co-led by young people.

  • WA Election Priorities 2024

This submission is to inform state government and policymakers on our expectations and demands for policy reform in lieu of the upcoming election in 2024.

  • Submission to the Australian Human Rights Commission 2024

Current and Emerging Threats to Trans and Gender Diverse Human Rights. This submission was written in collaboration with TransFolk of WA and Freedom. Content warning: Discussion of discrimination, conversion practices, self-harm and homelessness.

  • Esther House Submission 2022

This submission was written in collaboration with Ending Conversion Practices WA to be delivered to the Education and Health Standing Committee. It includes our recommendations on how to improve health and wellbeing services for LGBTIQA+ people.

  • Submission to Inquiries on the Religious Discrimination Bill 2021

This was to the joint parliamentary committee on human rights and the senate committee on legal and constitutional affairs in December 2021.

  • Submission on the Equal Opportunity Act in WA 2021

This submission was to the Law Reform Commission to recommend changes to the Equal Opportunity Act 1984.
